About Mike Parker Media
Hello everybody, this is Mike Parker; you might know me better as, "The Voice of the Beavers." I founded Mike Parker Media because I believe in the power of storytelling, sharing passion with others, and going "Beyond the Broadcast."
My broadcasting journey began when I was 19, with just my voice and a love for sports. Nearly fifty years and six Oregon Broadcaster of the Year Awards later, I have decided it is time to give back to the community that has supported me through every high and every low. I'm proud offer comprehensive media training for aspiring broadcasters, speakers, and business-people.
Beyond media training, I offer tailor-made "Messages from Mike," which range from recording advertisements, emceeing events, and creating voice/video messages for loved-ones birthdays. Whether it's a special announcement, a heartfelt message, or a crucial business communication, I'm here to help you craft the perfect words that help you convey your thoughts and connect with your community.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Beaver Nation and beyond.
Yours truly,
Mike
About Me
Born in 1958, I am a proud Oregonian, and a member of the Walker-Mohawk band of Six Nations of the Grand River.
My broadcasting journey ignited at age five in Los Angeles when I first heard Vin Scully's voice on the radio in a neighbor's garage, sparking a lifelong passion. Armed with a wooden spoon 'microphone,' I conducted interviews with family and friends throughout my childhood.
Athletics became my arena; I played a variety of sports, including basketball and baseball, where I earned the title of two-time defensive player of the year and still hold the lowest ERA record at Cottage Grove High School.
My broadcasting career began in 1977 doing play-by-play for high school sports. In 1982, I graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in rhetoric and communications.
From serving as the voice of the Eugene Emeralds and the Oregon women’s basketball program to the AAA Portland Beavers, my journey continued. In Portland, I also hosted shows on KFXX and KEX Radio. Behind the microphone, I witnessed and emceed Oregon State University's athletic triumphs, including three baseball national championships, multiple bowl games, and served as the master of ceremonies for numerous events on and off the OSU campus. Through it all, I am honored to have garnered the “Oregon Broadcaster of the Year” award on six occasions.
I am currently in my 25th year of broadcasting Oregon State sports, and also co-hosting the Joe Beaver Show/Beaver Sports Podcast with Jon Warren.
Over the years, I've shared the stories of Oregon State's athletic excellence- but beyond the stadiums, my most cherished accomplishment in my own life is my family—my wife, Missy, and our children, Elle and Lydia. When not behind the microphone, I find joy in jogging along the Willamette, body surfing whenever I can, reading, journaling, and family movie nights.
In each endeavor, I strive to share the love and enthusiasm that fueled my journey from a wooden spoon to the 'Voice of the Beavers.’
